Burlap & Lace

Thursday

The gorgeous combination of burlap and lace is fantastic for creating a rustic yet elegant wedding! There are so many easy ways to incorporate it in decor. Here are a few examples:

1. Cake & Desserts

2. Lace & Burlap Mason Jar Flower Vases

Quart sized mason jars can be used for fresh cut flowers (dahlias look great in these!). They work great combined together with different sized jars as centerpieces and extra decor. The pint sized jars also make great drink glasses! Here is a great tutorial on how to make: Burlap & Lace Mason Jars

3. Burlap Table Linens: Several Options

4. Silverware Accents:

These silverware holders would be so easy to do! Buy burlap in bulk and sew them yourself or hire someone to sew them for you. You could add the accents yourself.

5. Favors:

Such sweet favor bags! Brown paper bags and doilies.

6. Invitations & Stationary:

Invitations and other wedding stationary can be very easy and inexpensive to make if you are somewhat computer savvy (remember the burlap textured background in word?) . However, you do need some great fonts. Here is a link to some great free fonts: Fab Fonts
You can also buy digital lace for cheap on Etsy! Here is a great one: Digital Lace

7. Seating:

It may seem like a lot of work to hang burlap on the chairs so you may want to consider doing every other chair or just the bride and grooms chair. Hay bale seating is a unique and affordable seating option for ceremonies. You can lay large fabric rectangles over them or tie them for a more finished look.

8. Signs and Banners

Burlap signs and banners are an easy way to make a large statement. Here is a great diy burlap banner tutorial: Burlap Banner How to

9. Accessories

Candidate Night @ Green Villa Barn!

Tuesday

Please come to Candidate Night at Green Villa Barn!
Candidates may still sign up- please call the office 503-838-3475
The question we pose to each candidate is,
"Do you consider yourself a "patriot" in the historical sense?"
The patriarchs (think paternity) authored our founding documents. A patriot is one who thinks as the Fathers thought. Using the Declaration of Independence and Constitution as
a measure.... Are you a patriot?
Something to think about:

Tax his land,
Tax his wage,
Tax his bed in which he lays.
Tax his tractor,
Tax his mule,
Teach him taxes is the rule.
Tax his cow,
Tax his goat,
Tax his pants,
Tax his coat.

Tax his ties,
Tax his shirts,
Tax his work,
Tax his dirt.

Tax his tobacco,
Tax his drink,
Tax him if he tries to think.

Tax his booze,
Tax his beers,
If he cries,
Tax his tears.

Tax his bills,
Tax his gas,
Tax his notes,
Tax his cash.

Tax him good and let him know
That after taxes, he has no dough.

If he hollers,
Tax him more,
Tax him until he's good and sore.

Tax his coffin,
Tax his grave,
Tax the sod in which he lays.
Put these words upon his tomb,
"Taxes drove me to my doom!"

And when he's gone,
We won't relax,
We'll still be after inheritance TAX!!

Think this is funny?
Not one of these taxes existed 100 years ago, and our nation was the most prosperous in the world. We had absolutely no national debt, had the largest middle class in the world, and Mom stayed home to raise the kids.
What happened? Can you spell "politicians?!"
