Romantic Summer Wedding

Monday

Newly engaged and happy!  Well, take a deep breath because now all the hard work begins!  These are some suggestions from Green Villa staff and wedding coordinators to help make this process easier.

THE LOOK

The first thing you need to decide after getting engaged is what you want your wedding to look and feel like.  Do you want it to be beautiful and romantic or fun and whimsical? Believe it or not establishing "the look" you are after will help determine other areas that you will need to decide. Like choosing the venue. If you were choosing  romantic/ rustic, you could go with a barn venue.  If you choose formal/elegant, you may want to choose a church or cathedral for your venue.

BUDGET

After you decide the feel of your wedding the next thing is to establish your budget.  You need to decide what things are important to you.  Example: if the venue is really important to you, choose that first.  If photography is most important to you, make sure you save a nice portion of your budget for that.   Put those items at the top of your list, then it will be easier to decide when working within your budget.  Prioritizing these big decisions will make it easier in the long run.

THE VENUE

Does it coincide with the look you are going with? Remember your vibe when deciding this.  Then,  we suggest booking a year to year and half in advance.  That way you can get the venue you want and hopefully the date!  If you have a specific date and only 8 months till you get married, you are going to have a difficult time getting the venue you want.  If you are more flexible with your date then booking a few months out shouldn't be too difficult.  We suggest booking sooner than later for your venue!

PHOTOGRAPHY

After finding and locking in your venue we think photography is pretty important! Finding a great photographer that listens to your wants and is organized is essential. After all, the only thing you take away from that day is your memories and your photos.  It should be important. Good photographers can book out early so, get your phone calls done!

THE FOOD

The food you choose for your wedding is also a pretty big expense.  The options are endless for this category. It's all about the bride & groom so choose something that YOU like! You should have your caterer booked by 10 months out to be safe.

THE DJ

If a DJ is on your list of must haves you will want to book them  6-9 months out.  A DJ can help your event go smoothly and make it so much fun!  Good DJ's will ask you for a list of music you want played and even schedule the first dance down to the bouquet toss.

FLOWERS/DECOR

Flowers and decor can also be quite expensive so make sure they are in your budget. Florists can help with trying to figure out your "look" and what kind of flowers are in season for your wedding.  Floral arrangements make any wedding beautiful.  This should also be decided on about 6 months out.

As you can see there are many things to consider when planning a wedding and we only scratched the surface of all those decisions that need to be made.  There are many sites and sources for a free wedding timeline so you might want to check those out!   We hope this post has been helpful for you!
